What does it mean to set intentions, how intention setting is different from goals, and using meditation and mindfulness to help start intention setting.

This is that concept that was in a word-of-the-day mail list and I've been trying to describe for years, that was expressed as "the denying oneself of physical pleasure with the intent to be virtuous." That description was a bit more negative, but has the same general idea, of anti-hedonism, though perhaps missing the implied moral imperative in the practitioner's beliefs.
