I used the TestDisk program to make a virtual boot volume in Hyper-V become bootable again. First I added the volume to an XP VM, and converted the volume to dynamic. Then I used TestDisk under that XP VM to make it bootable again, and then booted it in the VM it came from.

Seems to mainly be an issue on our slower hardware, but maybe the newer computers just do everything else so fast that we don't notice as much?
